Good news for French tennis player Tatiana Golovin as she records her first title win in WTA circuit by defeating top seed Nadia Petrova 6-2, 6-1 in the Amelie Island tourney finals.
In a post match interview Golovin said,
This is probably the happiest day of my life in my tennis career. It still hasn’t sunk in. I’m still really excited about it. I feel like I’ve gone on to the next level in winning my first tournament.
This week has been quite good for World number 20, because not only has she beaten the likes of Venus Williams and Nadia Petrova but has also shown her repertoire to the world that on her day she can beat anyone.
Golovin dominated the match with the assistance of her ground strokes as Petrova continue to make unforced errors. First serve, that has generally been Golovin’s weakness was at her absolute best throughout the match as Petrova struggled to come in terms with the pace and accuracy from Golovin.
